Waardenburg Syndrome

Waardenburg syndrome was named by a Dutch eye doctor named Waardenburg after he noticed that people who have two different colored eyes frequently had some form of hearing mutilation. Waardenburg found due to his extensive studies that many people with hearing loss had corporeal characteristics in common.

Waardenburg syndrome is a hereditary stipulation which may result in a variety of degrees of hearing loss and changes in the color of your hair and skin. Waardenburg syndrome is conceded down hereditarily from parents to children and in the same way hair color, blood type and other physical characteristics are also conceded down. As the syndrome is a dominant condition then the children usually come into the stipulation from just one parent who has the defective syndrome gene. If the children of people have Waardenburg syndrome then near about a 50-percent possibility of inheriting the stipulation.

The most common characteristic of the Waardenburg syndrome is two differently colored eyes and the color of one eye is generally blue and the color of other eye is normally brown. According to medical professionals one eye can have two different colors itself but this can happen occasionally. The people who suffer from Waardenburg syndrome may also have unusually luminous blue eyes and a distinctive color of hair. There are many physical characteristics of Waardenburg syndrome in which a wide gap between the inner corners of eyes which is known as broad nasal root is include. The people who suffer from Waardenburg syndrome may also have a low anterior hairline and their eyebrows can attach with each other. Always remember that the people with the Waardenburg syndrome may have one or more of these symptoms but not every person who has Waardenburg syndrome suffers from hearing loss.

The level of hearing loss fluctuates with Waardenburg sufferers because carry out the changes in their skin and hair color. The Waardenburg syndrome has been associated to other conditions which are present at birth and these conditions are intestinal disorders, altitude of the shoulder blades and disorders of the spine. A facial condition which is called a cleft lip or palate has also been associated to Waardenburg Syndrome. There are four kinds of Waardenburg syndrome and the most common kinds are Type 1 and Type 2. Generally the person's physical characteristics will validate the kind of Waardenburg syndrome they have.
