All Types of Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can affect anyone even a new born infant or someone rejoicing their 100th birthday or anyone in between. According to some calculation out of every 1,000 about 3 new born babies are born with some type of hearing injuries. Hearing injuries are becoming most common birth defects in the whole world nowadays.

The meaning of hearing loss is that the something inside the ear is not working properly. There are many people may also use the words like deaf, deafness, or hard of hearing when they are suffering from hearing loss. Normally, the deaf and hard of hearing community prefers to be referred to as either "deaf" or "hard of hearing".

If you want to know correctly that how and why hearing loss occurs then you must have to know how the ear works. There are a lot of types of hearing loss and also many dissimilar causes for hearing loss. There are many people who suffering from hearing loss at birth and some people are suffering from hearing loss after the birth. Normally hearing loss is also known as hearing impairment or hearing injury. Hearing impairment happens only when there is any problem with one or more parts of a person's ear or ears. A person who suffers from hearing loss or hearing impairment may be able to hear some sounds or hardly any sounds at all.

 

Injury, illness and hereditary are the main causes of hearing loss and due to these things hearing loss can be permanent or temporary. Hearing loss can be occurred by serious infections of the middle ear which is meningitis. Hearing also occurred from maternal diabetes, lack of oxygen and head injuries. The causes which are responsible for hearing loss later in life are listening to very loud music especially through headphones, exposure to loud or monotonous sounds such as machinery, airplanes, gunshots, etc.


Conductive, sensory, mixed (conductive and sensory combined) and neural are a few dissimilar types of hearing loss. Each and every type of hearing loss also has resultant categories such as otitis media and ostosclerosis.

If you feel that there is some problem in your ear due to which you hear the sound sometimes hardly then you should have to go for hearing testing to see that what the problem is going on with your ear. Always remember that impermanent hearing loss can often be cured by surgery or medication but permanent hearing loss means you will have to wear hearing aids.
