Central Auditory Processing Dysfunction

The problems of central auditory dysfunction badly affect many people but central auditory dysfunction is not very prevalent. Central auditory dysfunctions causes complexity in communicating but central auditory dysfunctions do not cause deafness because generally they only affect one side of the brain and both sides of the brain are implicated in hearing. There are many reasons of central auditory dysfunctions such as aging, Alzheimer's disease and other infrequent problems linked with the brain. According to medical professionals all human hearing is not done in the ear because the ear just gathers in all of the sounds people hear and then delivers them to the base of the brain in the brain stem which is positioned just above the spinal cord. Always keep in mind that the hearing information travels up and due to this processing of the data begins because of a conscious decision of the intelligence but the job of sorting the information and sounds should be done automatically without even thinking about it and in this procedure tasks which focusing on person in front of you and ignoring two others talking next to you is included.

A lot of medical experts deem that the auditory system must express the sounds of speech before they are known as words. When the sounds get to the brain then the temporal lobe begins to systematize them into words and the information is then routed to other centers of thought, action, sight, etc.

Children with an auditory dysfunction frequently have learning problems. You may be able to notice an auditory problem in a child by watching for certain types of behavior such as:

• A greater propensity to ignore somebody speaking to them when they are absorbed in an activity.
• An unusual sensitivity to grievance about noise.
• Complexity telling the direction from which somebody is talking to them.
• A propensity baffles similar sounding words.
• They baffle or forget directions.

Always remember that the some of this behavior also appears with common hearing losses. Pediatric audiologists are experienced to test youngsters or adolescents. You must bear in mind that if a child's behavior is not caused by a hearing loss then there is reason to suspect it could be caused by a central auditory dysfunction.
